NSCDC sensitise Kwara students on rape, sex education

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sensitised Kwara students on sex education and how to shun all forms of immoral acts that could affect their future.

The sensitisation was organised by the corps on rape, sex education and juvenile delinquency for primary pupils and secondary students at Gwanara, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara on Friday.

The state NSCDC Commandant, Mr Muhammed Ibrahim, enjoined the students to shun all forms of immoral acts, such as rape, sexual abuse, smoking and keeping bad company.

The commandant, represented by the Divisional Officer of Gwanara, Mr Babawale Afolabi, advised the students to desist from social media except for their academic purposes.

He urged them not to allow social activities have bad influence on them and be conscious of the friends they keep.

The Guest Speaker, Mrs Halimat Mohammed, also advised female students to stop indecent dressing that could make them targets of rapists, while males should avoid indecent behaviours and other immoral acts.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the females were taught various ways of defending themselves from being raped and from falling victims of other immoral acts.

The programme, held in Gwanara town, was attended by students from both primary and secondary schools in Gwanara Emirate.
