Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has revealed that winger Jadon Sancho is ‘physically and mentally’ struggling.
According to Ten Hag, Man United are trying to get Sancho back to full fitness.
The Dutchman also said that he is unsure when the 22-year-old will be ready to return to first-team duties at Old Trafford.
Asked for an update on Sancho, who was left out of Man United’s travelling squad that flew to Spain for a winter training camp last week, Ten Hag was quoted by EuroSport as saying: “I don’t think he’ll be back this week, no.
“We want to bring him back as quickly as possible, but I can’t give a prognosis of when that will be.
“Sometimes there are circumstances with fitness and mood. We got a drop in quality level and sometimes you don’t know why or what is causing it.
“That is what we are doing now to try to get him back there. It’s a combination of both physically and mentally.”
Sancho joined Man United from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in the summer of 2021.
He will hope to gain full match fitness before Man United’s EFL Cup clash against Burnley next week.
