Qatar 2022: I feel bad for two France players, Messi deserves World Cup trophy – Xavi

Barcelona head coach, Xavi Hernandez has said that he felt bad for two France players, Ousmane Dembele and Jules Kounde, following Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup triumph over the weekend.

Xavi also said that Argentina captain Lionel Messi deserves to win the World Cup trophy because he is the best player in history.

Recall that Messi scored a brace as Argentina drew 3-3 with France in the World Cup final on Sunday.

Argentina then defeated the Les Blues 4-2 on penalties to lift this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Speaking on the development, Xavi said (as quoted by Barca Blaugranes): “Argentina really deserved it [World Cup], they were better at the game, just like Leo [Lionel Messi]. That the best player in history didn’t have a World Cup was a bit strange.

“He now has the World Cup, so all that remains is to congratulate him because he deserves it.”

He added, “It has been an extraordinary final for the spectators. I feel bad for Jules [Kounde] and Ousmane [Dembele], but it was spectacular, one of the best matches I have ever seen.”
