Ronaldo has spoken on Neymar’s future in the Brazil national team amid rumours of the Paris Saint-Germain star’s retirement.
The 30-year-old PSG forward hinted that he might draw the curtain on his international football following Brazil’s elimination from the World Cup in the quarter-finals.
But Brazil legend Ronaldo de Lima does not believe that would be a wise move for the 30-year-old to dump the national team.
Neymar will be 34 by the time the next World Cup kicks off in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America.
“Now he’s sad and that’s okay, but he is still young. At the age of 31 he can still easily play in the next World Cup,” Ronaldo told Globo.
‘He is very popular in Brazil right now because he identifies so well with his national team.
“Against Croatia, he was a top-quality player and he remains an important part of the national team,” Ronaldo, a World Cup winner with the Selecao said, adding that the PSG star will come back stronger.
