The Police Command in Oyo State has arrested nine suspects over the murder of Hakeem Mudashiru, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) grassroots mobiliser in Oyo Town.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the arrest to NAN on Thursday in Ibadan.
Mudashiru was hacked to death in his father’s house on Wednesday by suspected rival political thugs.
The spokesperson disclosed that those in custody include a female.
The PPRO confirmed the case is being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
Preliminary investigation showed the deceased was attacked by hoodlums after a heated argument.
The death of Hakeem, 40, was reported by his father, Jimoh Agala, at Durbar Divisional Police Headquarters on Wednesday at about 1.35 p.m.
Osifeso said police operatives had been deployed to the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
The command promised to provide updates on the case.
