Don’t embark on campaign of calumny, thugery – Niger govt warns

Niger State Governor and Chairman North Central States Governors Forum (NCSGF), Alh. Abubakar Sani Bello has warned against campaigns of calumny and thuggery amidst heightened political activities ahead of the 2023 general elections in the country.

He noted the need for issues-based campaigns among all political gladiators and party loyalists.

Bello stated this in his New Year message to people of the state, assured that it would remain central and the main focus of the All Progressives Congress, APC,-led administration in the state and at the center.

The chairman NCSGF observed that based on its performance thus far, the ruling party remains the most viable option for the citizens ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The governor insisted, “Although our administration is winding down, it remains focused and committed to completing most of the ongoing projects. This is as service delivery,, improvement of the general living conditions and well-being of the people remains sacrosanct”.

The governor also explained that although the outgoing year was tough in terms of security and economic challenges, while urging Nigerlites to remain hopeful because the challenges are surmountable.

Acknowledging the decline in banditry activities across the troubled parts of the state, he paid glowing tribute to the gallantry of the Armed Forces and other security agencies for the sustained fight against the menace of banditry and wanton kidnappings that bedeviled the state.

The governor stated, “We pray for the sustenance of peace and unity in the state and country stressing that the collective prosperity of a people was uncompromisingly dependent on their unity and peaceful coexistence.

“As we enter the New Year, let us look up to 2023 with hope and remain tolerant and committed to the collective ideals that would make the new year a promising and fulfilled one.”
