Zidane is France, you can’t disrespect legend – Mbappe replies FFF President, Le Graet

France forward, Kylian Mbappe, has come to the defence of Zinedine Zidane after French Football Federation (FFF) president Noel Le Graet’s comments on the former Real Madrid manager.

Recall that a few hours after announcing Didier Deschamps’ renewal as France head coach, Le Graet made a statement to RMC Sport denying any contact with Zidane, who was linked with the France national team coaching job.

Le Graet stated that Zidane “was always under the radar, there is no need to tell stories. He had a lot of supporters, some were waiting for Deschamps to leave. But who can seriously criticise Deschamps? No one can.

“If Zidane tried to contact me, no, I would not have picked up the phone.

“Of course not, I wouldn’t have even picked up the phone. To tell him to find another club? Make a special programme for him to find a club or a national team?”

However, Le Graet’s words did not go down well with Mbappe who responded with an emphatic message on his Twitter on Sunday, insisting that Zidane is France and cannot be disrespected.

The Paris Saint-Germain star tweeted: “Zidane is France, you can’t disrespect the legend.”
