Guardiola knows him very well – Eriksson on Messi playing with Haaland

Former Manchester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson said he would love to see Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi join Pep Guardiola at Etihad.

Eriksson believes Messi won’t turn down a reunion with Guardiola, adding that it would be great for the Argentina captain to play alongside Man City goal machine Erling Haaland at the Premier League champions.

Messi and Guardiola worked together during their time at Barcelona in the past.

The 35-year-old’s current contract with PSG will expire at the end of the season.

“I wished Argentina to win the World Cup only because of Lionel Messi, he deserved it. I don’t know what will happen to Messi, but if he continues to play as he did in the World Cup, he’s still one of the best,” Eriksson told OLBG.

“Pep Guardiola knows Lionel Messi very well, so I can’t imagine he would say no to that transfer. It would be great for him to play in the Premier League, especially with Erling Haaland in front of him, but I can’t see it happening
