Nigerians can still return old Naira notes to banks after 31st January deadline

The Central Bank of Nigeria has said Nigerians and other nationals living in the country can return old Naira notes to banks after the January 31st deadline it earlier declared.

Chika Mbonu, a Business Analyst disclosed this on Arise TV Sunday afternoon.

He said there was no need for Nigerians to panic trying to return their old notes, unless they are seeking to get new notes for transaction.

He said the CBN has given a ten-day window for people to return their old note, saying that until February 10, 2023, holders of old notes can return them and that the banks would credit the money to their accounts.

In addition, Chika Mbonu said that those who failed to return their old notes after February 10, can still return them up to February 17 with a condition that the notes returned after February 10 would not be credited into owners accounts but regarded as waste.
