Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has identified Gabriel Martinelli as the Gunners star who will benefit when Gabriel Jesus finally returns from injury.

Wright said Jesus would fire up Martinelli and the 21-year-old would get more goals for Arsenal.

Jesus has not played for Arsenal in 2023 after suffering a knee injury during Brazil’s 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar.

The former Manchester City star is closing in on a return from the treatment room, having been pictured in training this week as he continues his rehabilitation.

However, Wright believes Jesus’ return can help Martinelli rediscover his best form.

“Arsenal is straining every sinew right now to stay in front [of Manchester City],” Wright told Premier League Productions.

“Yes, we’ve [Gabriel]Jesus coming back, which will then hopefully fire up [Gabriel] Martinelli even more because our left-hand side has missed Jesus.

“Jesus would interchange with Martinelli, and he would get inside and we would get a little bit more going on our left side.”
