Federation Cup win big boost for Rangers – Maikaba

Rangers head coach, Abdu Maikaba reckoned his team’s State Federation Cup success will be a motivating factor ahead of their rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League clash against Rivers United.

The Flying Antelopes thrashed amateur club, Ingas FC 5-1 on Wednesday to successfully defend their title.

Godwin Obaje bagged a brace, while Chidera Eze, Innocent Gabriel and Chidiebere Nwobodo scored the other goals for the Coal City club.

Maikaba also expressed confidence that the improvement witnessed in the team’s performance will be reflected positively on their results when the league resumes.

“I am happy with the performance of my players, especially with the harvest of goals,” Maikaba told Rangers media.

“It is my belief that it will motivate the players going into the second round of the NPFL season starting with our rescheduled match with Rivers United,” he added.

Rangers will host Bayelsa United in their first match of the second stanza.
