Abel Tesfaye, popularly known as The Weeknd, is officially the world’s most popular musician.
According to TMZ on Tuesday, the 33-year-old Canadian singer’s success has resulted in him setting two new Guinness World Records: most monthly Spotify listeners – 111.4 million (as of 20 March 2023) and the first artist to reach 100 million monthly Spotify listeners.
The Weeknd currently has almost 30 million more monthly listeners than second-placed Miley Cyrus (82.4 million).
He is ahead of Shakira (81.6 million), Ariana Grande (80.6 million), Taylor Swift (80.2 million), Rihanna (78.5 million), and his closest male challenger, Ed Sheeran (77.5 million).
