EFCC Arrests Crossdresser, 32 Others For Internet Fraud In Lagos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Lagos Zonal Command, arrested a crossdresser, Owoseni Gabriel, and 32 other suspected internet fraudsters in the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos State.

The agency made this known in a statement via its Twitter handle on Wednesday.

A Toyota Camry 2005 model, a Toyota Camry 2009 model, mobile phones and laptop computers were recovered from the suspects.

The statement partly read, “Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, have arrested one Owoseni Gabriel, who posed as a woman to evade arrest, and 32 others for their alleged involvement in computer-related fraud.

“They were arrested on May 2, 2023, at the Iyana Ipaja axis of Lagos State, following credible intelligence received by the Commission on the activities of some young boys involved in computer-related fraud.

“During the sting operation, Gabriel, particularly, wore a female dress and a wig to evade arrest.

“Items recovered from the suspects include a Toyota Camry 2005 model, a Toyota Camry 2009 model, mobile phones and laptop computers.The suspects will be charged to court after investigations have been concluded.”
