OGPWeek: Kogi government to reposition OGP in the state to deliver on its mandate.

As part of lined up activities to mark OGP week in Kogi State, the Co-chair, State Actors of Open Government Partnership, (OGP), in Kogi state has assured that the state is working very hard to reposition the OGP platform and make it functional to be able to deliver on its mandate.

The representative of the government (Co-Chair) at the meeting, Sanni Haruna Muhammed, Director of International Cooperation, Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning gave the assurance during the final review of the state OGP action plan.

The document which houses five (5) thematic focal areas and nine (9) commitments deals with proper procurement processes, citizens access to government help information, citizens participation in budget circles among other items was subjected to critical scrutiny during the review meeting.

The Co-Chair Non State Actors (NSA), Ambassador Idris Ozovehe Muraina, calls for the immediate official inauguration of the State Steering Committee (SSC).

He noted that the official inauguration will signal the full take off of the OGP in the state.

Stakeholders at the meeting in their various contribution, noted that the action plan when finalize, published and disseminated will help in the effective implementation of government policies, enhance accountability, transparency and culture of openness in governance.

The issue of funding as required by the OGP policy document was also discussed and agreed.
