Bello-Koko bags 2022 Champion Newspapers’ Maritime Icon of the Year Award

The publishers and editorial board of Daily Champion Newspapers have conferred Mohammed Bello Koko, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) with the award of “Maritime Icon of the Year” for his milestone achievements in steering the ship of the agency.

A statement issued to this effect at the weekend explained that Koko was honoured for fast-tracking the approval processes leading to the operationalization of Nigeria’s first deep seaport, and unprecedented revenue generation and remittances to nation’s Consolidated Revenue Fund.

His other achievements which were also recognised include port infrastructure renewal, deployment of the Port Community System (PCS) to lay the groundwork for the National Single Window that is necessary to tackle the challenge of duplicity of functions and attendant delays in the Ports.

Koko, who was confirmed as substantive Managing Director of NPA by President Muhammadu Buhari in February 2020, was further recognised for his facilitation of the renewed export orientation of the Federal Government and efforts towards increased utilization of ports in the Eastern region, among other accomplishments.
