Kwara Woman falls Into Well, Dies

The dead body of a woman, Jamiu Sikirat, 57, on Monday, was recovered from a well in Ilorin by firefighters in Kwara State.

Sikirat from the Ile-Agunko compound of Adeta Local Government Area fell into the well on Monday around 6.42 pm, Daily Post reported on Tuesday.

The state fire service spokesman, Hassan Adekunle, said one Muhammad Jamiu, living in the neighbourhood reported the incident to the service via phone call.

Adekunle said, “Firemen were able to recover the dead body from the well and later handed it over to one Alfa Abdulganiyu Akuko, a family member of the deceased, in the presence of Nigerian police officers from Adewole Division Ilorin.”

The state fire service Director, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed sadness over the incident and urged the general public to desist from sending underage children to fetch water from wells.
