NSUK to commence engineering, medical courses as NUC gives nod

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of full-time undergraduate programmes at the Nasarawa State University Keffi in chemical, electrical-electronics and civil engineering, commencing from 2023/2024 academic session.

This was made known via a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Muhammad Bala, signed by NUC Director of Academic Planning, N.B Saliu, on Friday.

The NUC also approved for the commencement of academic activities in the newly established faculty of medicine of the institution in health information and community health.

According to the letter, the approval by the NUC followed resources assessment visit to proposed academic programmes, to assess human and material resources available for their establishment.

This is in fulfillment of the determination of the Engineer Abdullahi Sule administration towards ensuring that the state owned university runs engineering and medical sciences programmes.

It would be recalled that, Engineer Sule personally donated twenty million naira towards facilitating the establishment of the faculty of engineering at NSUK.

The Governor while making the donation during a stakeholders meeting at the university, emphasized that, as an engineer who opened a faculty of engineering, he deemed it wise to make his personal donation of 20 million naira towards that cause.

With the approval by the NUC, Nasarawa State University Keffi has joined the leagues of universities offering courses in engineering and medical sciences.
