25-year-old Suspect Kill Six, Injures One in China Kindergarten Knife Attack

A 25-year-old man suspected of killing six people and injuring one after attacking a kindergarten school with a knife in China’s Guangdong province on Monday has been arrested.

Police said the suspect with the surname, Wu, from Lianjiangre County in the southern province has been detained and the investigation is ongoing, Reuters reports.

The incident reportedly involving both children and adults, is rare in China due to strict gun laws and tight security.

The crime of stabbings at pre-schools over the past few years has raised concerns about safety in schools which have sparked reactions on the Weibo social media platform with over 290 million views.

Some of the users suggest that the suspect face the death penalty.

In August 2022, three people were reportedly killed and six wounded in a stabbing at a kindergarten in the southern province of Jiangxi.
