Wike to overhaul decaying Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Ltd

In a bid to ensure access to functional mass transportation system, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike has declared commitment  towards overhauling the moribund Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Ltd (AUMTCO) , in spite of the challenges of funds being faced by the Administration. 

Wike, who asserted this yesterday  when the House of Representatives Committee on Mass Transit visited him in his office, to explore modalities to revamping the once vibrant AUMTCO said it is embarrassing for capital city like abuja to lack a world class mass transportation system. 

Recall that the decaying AUMTCO was established as Abuja Bus Service (ABS) by the then Ministry of FCT, now the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in 1984, but later later registered as Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Limited, under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990, and designed to help ameliorate  the transportation needs of the nation’s city that was developing at high speed….
