Engineer Sule approves 5 percent employment for persons with disabilities

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has approved that henceforth, 5 percent of employment by the state government be reserved for persons living with disabilities.

Engineer Sule gave the approval in a statement issued by the Head of Civil Service, Abigail Waya, on Tuesday.

The statement quoted the Head of Civil Service directing chief executives of Commissions, Boards and Agencies, to implement the new policy with commitment and dedication.

She said the directive is in accordance with the Discriminatory Against Persons With Disabilities Act 2018, as well as the recognition of the importance of providing equal opportunities for all citizens.

“In alignment with the State’s legal and ethical obligations, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule has graciously approved that henceforth, five percent (5%) of the total vacancies earmarked for every recruitment exercise into the State Public Service be reserved for qualified persons with disabilities,” part of the statement reads.
