Security a vital asset for National Development – Bagudu

In line with the Reviewed National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan, NIIMP, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has said that security was one of the assets vital for national development .

Bagudu, according to the Ministry’s press release, made this comment when members of the National Institute for Security Studies, NISS paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

He stated that well coordination of synergy among stakeholders, proper intelligence gathering, among others can reduce the menace of insecurity in the Country.

He expressed the desire of the Ministry to accord the Security sector and the Institute, greater support to enhance their programmes and activities, as well as, to help them achieve their mandates.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of National Institute for Security Studies, NISS, A.S. Adeleke said that the Institute was designed to provide Senior Level Managers with the required operational and administrative capacity to identify, analyse security threats with a view to proffering strategies to prevent the threats or to mitigate their impact.

The mandate of the Institute, Adeleke further informed, was to be a leading centre of excellence for security studies, research, capacity building and Staff development for the Department of State Services, DSS and other members of the Intelligence Community, Paramilitary, Law Enforcement Agencies, Regulatory and Strategic Government Agencies in Nigeria and abroad.

He congratulated the Minister for his well deserved appointment and solicited for his support for the Institute.
