Speaking on the essence and preparation for the event, Host of the event and C.E.O. of House of Justice, Gloria Mabeiam Ballason Esq said House of Justice recognizes the concern of citizens about democracy failing in Nigeria and the African region, ‘…the 2023 Summit is not just an event, it is a movement to ensure democratic stability. The collapse of democracy in Niger, Gabon, Mali, Guinea or Burkina Faso is not happenstance; it is the failure of citizens to demand and insist that democratic institutions work, ‘ she said.

Speaking further, Ballason said that although Nigeria has its many convolutes, systems do not auto -corrupt, people corrupt systems but that the upside is that active citizens who are committed and resilient have capacity to fix broken systems too.

‘ This is what the Summit this year is committed to do: Bring together citizens across the country and region to say enough to the destruction of our democratic systems and to invest in the rebuilding process for a nation and continent that works for us all,’ she said.
