Police Council confirms Egbetokunas IGP

The National Police Council on Tuesday confirmed Kayode Egbetokun as the substantive Inspector General of Police (IGP).

President Bola Tinubu had appointed

A Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG, Egbetokun, who was appointed as acting Inspector-General of Police has been functioin that capacity since June 20, until Tuesday’s confirmation by the Police Council.

The Police Council is chaired by the President with the 36 governors, the Minister of the FCT, Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) as members.

Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, announced Egbetokun’s confirmation as the IGP to newsmen at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa after the meeting.

He highlighted Egbetokun’s impressive curriculum vitae and international exposure, saying that he had shown impressive performance since his appointment.
