Mother tried killing her sick child with Sniper

The Lagos State Police Force has apprehended a mother for allegedly attempting to kill her child by administering a poisonous insecticide known as Sniper.

The incident came to light after the child, who had been battling with convulsions, was brought to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for treatment.

According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police spokesman, the hospital’s chief security officer reported the incident to the police on Friday. It was revealed that the mother had taken her one-year-and-seven-months-old daughter to LUTH seeking medical attention.

Upon examination, the mother confessed to a doctor at the hospital that she had given her child “Sniper” to drink on Sunday when the convulsions persisted. The mother claimed that she administered the liquid in an attempt to alleviate her child’s excessive convulsions and provide her with some relief.

Prompt action was taken by detectives dispatched to the hospital, where the child was undergoing treatment. Following the necessary medical attention, the mother was taken into custody for further investigation.
