The senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Jibrin Isa Echocho, has disclosed that he is already engaging his counterparts from Anambra State, especially the Senator representing Anambra North, Dr Okechikwu Tony Nwoye, on how to ensure timely completion of Ajegwu-Idah-Ibaji road in Kogi State.
He also disclosed that he will be meeting with the Minister of Works, Engr Dave Umahi, whom he said was his colleague at the red chamber before his appointment into the federal cabinet.
Speaking with newsmen recently in Abuja, Echocho emphasised that the Kogi-Anambra link road is crucial to the economic well-being of the indigenes of the two states, and road users from other parts of the country.
“That road is crucial to commuters and transportation of farm produce. In fact, when completed, the road will have linear effects on the economies of the towns and villages along that corridor.
“In view of the strategic nature of this road, I will leverage my relationship with the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi,
to ensure it gets the desired attention. We were colleagues at the Senate before his appointment into the federal cabinet. In fact, we are very close.
“The support of my colleague senators from Anambra State, especially Dr Okechikwu Tony Nwoye from Anambra North is also crucial.”
