Media Group Condemns Killing Of Soldiers In Delta

The National coordinator, Volunteer Media Advocacy For Accountable Leadership, Augustine Aminu, KSM has condemned the killing of 16 soldiers and officers in the autonomous community of Okuama, Ewu Kingdom in Ughelli South local government area of Delta State.

Aminu, in a statement on Tuesday, said the killing of our trained officers and soldiers, who were on a peace mission has portrayed the country in a bad light at a point when President Bola Tinubu is using all within his power to wage war against insecurity.

He said it is very sad that while we are praying fervently and working for peace in our country, to encourage and attract development, some persons are out there perpetuating violence.

He called for total civilian support for the nation’s military and said all hands must be on deck to bring our long awaited hope to fruitfulness.

“The killing of our soldiers in Delta State is a new low if we have to tell ourselves the plain truth at this point in time, when almost all the regions are facing one form of insecurity or the other”.

“Our soldiers need commendation in their patriotic effort to secure the nation in this trying time. They need the support of every Nigerian, irrespective of the state or region. Citizens must give the military one hundred percent support as the Institution represents our national sovereignty.

Aminu who expressed his condolences to the affected families said, “The sacrifices made by the Commanding Officer, three officers, and 12 soldiers during this distressing incident shall forever be remembered.

“Their bravery and commitment exemplify the highest virtue of patriotism, courage, and sacrifice, and their legacy will forever inspire us all.

“I wish to commend the swift response of the Chief of Defence Staff in directing an immediate investigation to apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime.

“It is crucial that justice is served and those behind this criminal act are brought to account for their actions.

“The Nigerian Army’s unwavering focus on upholding peace and security in our nation is a testament to the resilience and dedication of our Armed Forces.”
