Bayern Munich prioritizes ex-Chelsea coach ahead of Alonso to replace Tuchel

Bayern Munich is reportedly keen on appointing former Chelsea and Tottenham boss Antonio Conte to replace Thomas Tuchel, who is leaving the German club at the end of the season.

Reports suggest that Bayern’s interest in Conte is higher than that of Bayer Leverkusen coach, Xabi Alonso or any other potential candidate, as he is viewed as a priority appointment.

Conte has been out of work since his sacking by Tottenham almost a year ago after an unsuccessful 17-month stint in North London.

However, the 54-year-old Italian is widely considered as one of the most successful managers of his generation, having won four Serie A titles with Juventus and Inter Milan, as well as the Premier League with Chelsea in 2017.

Bayern Munich has endured a trophyless season and could finish this season without a title for the first time since 2012.

The club was also knocked out of the German Cup by a third-tier club and currently sits behind Bayer Leverkusen by ten points in the Bundesliga.

Despite still having a shot at the Champions League title, which they have previously won six times, they are scheduled to play against tough opponents in the knockout stages.

Bayern reportedly regarded Leverkusen boss and former Bayern midfielder, Xabi Alonso, as the early front-runner but appears now to have turned its attention to Conte who is expected to bring his successful track record and managerial experience to the Allianz Arena, according to Italian outlet la Repubblica, via talkSPORT.
