We won’t pay €1million bail for Dani Alves – Neymar’s father

Neymar da Silva Santos Sr., the father of Brazil forward, Neymar Jr, has said his family will not pay the €1million required to bail Dani Alves out of a Spanish prison.

Alves is currently in jail awaiting the result of an appeal to his rape conviction.

Neymar Sr. in a statement on behalf of his family on Thursday, noted that they financially supported Alves during his trial, but that they won’t do it again.

“For us, for my family, this matter is over. Full stop,” he said.

Neymar’s father however didn’t specify how much they gave Alves.

The 40-year-old Alves was sentenced to four years, six months in prison, after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in 2022.
