Tinubu extends new FCT Head of Service, Atang’s tenure

President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of service of the newly appointed Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Head of Service, Samuel Atang, for six months with effect from March 27.

The approval was contained in a circular issued by the Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Chidi Amadi, yesterday in Abuja.

Atang received the approval on the day he turned 60, which is his retirement age.

It was gathered that the extension of service is based on the need to stabilize and consolidate the ongoing processes to reposition the administrative structure of the FCT Administration followed by the recent inauguration of the FCT Civil Service Commission.

The circular reads in part, “I am directed to refer to the above subject matter and to inform you that His Excellency, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has graciously approved the extension of your service for a period of six (6) months with effect from Wednesday, 27th March, 2024 when you would have attained the mandatory age of sixty (60) years.

“The extension of your service is premised on the need to stabilize and consolidate the ongoing processes to reposition the administrative structure of the FCT Administration occasioned by the recent inauguration of the FCT Civil Service Commission”.
