Few months ago, the governor of Benue state, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia set up two Probe Panels to investigate the spendings and loans under the administration of his predecessor, Chief Samuel Ortom PhD.
While members of the public were thinking at that time that the governor was misled to take the action, some members of the Probe Panels rejected the appointments outrightly. Some said they weren’t consulted before the appointments while some were angry that they only heard their names on the Radio even when they weren’t properly briefed.
As a governor with so many battles to fight within his All Progressive Congress both in Benue state and Abuja, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia should not open up so many channels of battle. He should not listen to those that are wrongly advising him to probe the government of Samuel Ortom PhD which will end up as a mere academic exercise.
Yes, it will end up as a mere academic exercise because checks and facts have already vindicated Chief Samuel Ortom and this is the same way the two Probe Panels will submit their reports that the man didn’t commit any fraud while he held sway as governor between 2015 and 2023.
Meanwhile, Samuel Ortom has said it many times that he is ready for this probe. He also said it many times that all members of his administration should surrender themselves anytime they are called upon for questioning. This alone shows that the former governor is very sure that no fraudulent activity happened under him. It’s a case of a clean heart that fears no accusation. So what are the panels waiting for?
For Father Alia, he is the governor of Benue state and has come to stay to complete his tenure by the Grace of God but it’s important to advise him not to let the public believe that he is witch-hunting an innocent man for no reason.
Members of the public are already crying out that probing Samuel Ortom is just an act of witch-hunting an innocent man, and while His Excellency, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia carries on with the probe, he should have it in mind that he must start firing on all sides of the cylinder to save his job as the reconciliation which took place two days ago at the Tor Tiv’s palace in Gboko wont last. A reconciliation took place between Samuel Ortom and Senator George Akume at the same palace few years ago and it didn’t last. They are all after him (Alia)
