EFCC vs Yahaya Bello: You are a disgrace to democracy, constituted authorities, GPMI tells Gov. Ododo

An anti- corruption group, Global Peace Movement International, UK has noted the way and manner Governor Ododo smuggled Yahaya Bello from his Benganzi street home thereby obstructing the cause of justice was disgraceful, shameful and illegal.

President General of the group, Dr. Mike Uyi in a press statement on Tuesday in London said Governor Ododo should be requested to immediately “surrender his abductee, Yahaya Bello to the authorities” having personally abducted him from his Wuse Zone 4, Abuja residence on Wednesday 17th April under the cover of his immunity.

Uyi also accused Governor Ododo of elevating his servitude to Yahaya Bello above his oath of office and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which he swore to uphold.

“As a matter of urgency, Ododo should return to his state to provide leadership and governance, instead of using his security personnel attached to him to protect Yahaya Bello to evade justice”.

“EFCC is performing a great service to the nation by pursuing the perpetrators of national economic sabotage, such as Yahaya Bello”.

Uyi expressed hope that those involved in diverting public funds to finance elections would be punished to deter others in the future.

He stated that the anti-corruption stance of the present administration would ensure that such perfidy and misuse of funds meant for the country’s development by politicians in power corridors would not recur.

The statement urged the EFCC to leave no stone unturned in discouraging and ensuring that those in custody of public funds do not dip their hands into the till for personal gain.

“We commend the EFCC for taking necessary steps in accordance with the law to ensure that Yahaya Bello faces justice”.

“He is exceedingly wealthy now and will do everything to launch a campaign of calumny against the leadership of the EFCC. We are prepared to mobilize millions across the northern states in a peaceful protest in support of the EFCC”.

“We call on the EFCC not to be discouraged by sponsored campaigns of calumny by hired protesters who are jobless, and some unprofessional analysts who are only capitalizing on this situation to make more money from Yahaya Bello, who is spending looted resources from Kogi.”
