Manchester United Legend, Wayne Rooney has named captain Bruno Fernandes as the only senior player the club should keep at Old Trafford this summer.
Rooney said this while urging the Red Devils to do a massive clear out of players this summer transfer window.
This is coming after Fernandes inspired Man United to a crucial 3-2 win against Newcastle United in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Speaking to Sky Sports (via United in Focus), Rooney said:
“He is the one player with quality, he has got a fight in him. The young players, then all the other players I’d get rid of them.
“I’d keep the young players and Bruno, and then there has to be a massive clear out. There has to be. It’s not going to be one year, but I think it’s going to be over the next couple of years.”
He added, “To compete with Man City, with Liverpool, with Arsenal, they need better players.”
