Ondo government to invest in Sunshine Stars’ youth team

Ondo State Government has expressed their readiness to invest in Nigeria Premier Football League side Sunshine Stars youth team.

The Sunshine Stars U-17 team failed to progress to the playoff of the maiden edition of the NPFL Youth League.

The state commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye disclosed this during an unscheduled visit to the team’s training ground.

Yusuf-Ogunleye promised that the team won’t be neglected by the government.

“I’m here today to identify with you and assure you of our support,” he stated during his visit.

“Before we go outside to sign players for Sunshine Stars, we would have promoted some of you to the team, which means we will just add a few from the outside to make our team.

“I appreciate all of you that put everything in place to ensure that the team are together and also share same vision with the state government on why we need to return to the golden old days of OSFODEC, where the likes of Abe Sunday, Dayo Ojo, Geoffrey Oboabona and host of others were discovered.”
