Imo Tragedy: PDP Nat’l Secretary, Anyanwu knocks Uzodimma govt

The People Democratic Party, PDP, National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu has advocated for construction of a flyover at the Imo State University, IMSU, Junction to control traffic.

He spoke in reaction to the fatal motor accident that occurred at the IMSU Junction, which claimed more than ten lives.

Speaking through his media aide, Ikenna Onuoha, the PDP National Secretary maintained that constructing a flyover or standard roundabout at the junction would put a stop to the constant occurrence of accidents at the spot.

He regretted that for the past five years, the popular IMSU junction had been in the news for the bad, citing government’s inability to proffer lasting solutions to the traffic menace experienced in that particular place.

Anyanwu wondered how the APC administration in the State had continued to pay lip service to the well-being of the citizens.

“If the present government in the State is proactive and has the interest of the citizens at heart, the first thing it would have done is to identify areas that affect the citizens and urgently proffer solutions to them.

“IMSU junction is one of the areas that need immediate attention.

“This is because students and lecturers stay at the junction to wait for taxis and buses.

“Instead of spending the state’s funds on frivolous and unimportant projects, the state government should immediately take action geared towards rescuing the situation,” he said.

Expressing shock over the waste of lives and properties in the Saturday’s incident, Anyanwu commiserated with families of those that died in the tragedy, praying God to grant those they left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
