One dies as turbulence hits London-Singapore flight carrying 211 passengers, 18 crew

Zurich, Switzerland - April 7, 2010: A Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 is approaching Zurich International Airport.

One person has been confirmed dead, while several others were injured on a Singapore Airlines flight from London.

The Singapore-bound Boeing 777-300ER was reported to have diverted to Bangkok and landed at 15:45 local (08:45 GMT) after being hit with severe turbulence.

The airline said in a statement on Tuesday that the Flight SQ 321 carried 211 passengers and 18 crew.

“Singapore Airlines offers its deepest condolences to the deceased’s family,” it said.

The airline added that it was working with Thai authorities to provide medical assistance to passengers and sent a team to Bangkok to provide any additional help needed.

According to BBC, Thai authorities have despatched ambulances and emergency teams to Suvarnabhumi Airport.
