Igala Group Petitions CoS, IG Over Continous Detention Of Enugu Monarch, Urges Immediate Release

Ane Igala Restoration (AIR) has Petitioned The Chief Of Army Staff And Inspector General Of Police over continuous detention Of Enugu Monarch

In an emotion laden letter dated the 17th May, 2024, written on behalf of Ane Igala Restoration(AIR) by her solicitor, R R Adejo Andrew and Co and despatched on the 22nd May, 2024 to both the Chief of Army staff and the Inspector General of Police, Ane Igala Restoration(AIR) speaking on behalf of the Igala Nation and Igala people across the states of Nigeria registered the plight of the people of IGGA in Uzowani LGA to the authorities.

AIR traced the genesis of the problem in Igga Kingdom to the quest by their Addani Igbo speaking neighbours to have the ancestral oil rich land of the IGGA people forcefully taken from them and have them displaced.

The letter highlighted the use of Fulani herdsmen to cause chaos and other forms of insecurity within the neighborhood and having the blame foisted on the people with consequential reprisals.

AIR further maintained that the recent episode of the forgoing scenario has led to the arrest and continuous detention of the paramount ruler of IGGA Kingdom, IGWE Dr. Herbert Ukuta, JP and scores of leaders of the IGGA Kingdom.

That in the midst of the foregoing development which has left scores dead and properties destroyed, a detachment of the Police and the Army have invaded the community, sacked the people from their ancestral homes and lands and had same forcefully taken for construction purposes.

AIR therefore demand the immediate intervention of the Chief of Army staff and the inspector General of police in restoring order and normalcy to IGGA Kingdom, ensuring the prompt release of Igwe, Chief Herbert Ukuta and other detainees.

Also the thorough investigation of the development and prosecution of offenders is equally prayed for.

Signed

Adukwu Adaji
AIR, Director of Publicity.
