Six Serie A clubs could qualify for next season’s competition

Serie A could have six teams in next season’s Champions League.

This follows Atalanta’s 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final on Wednesday.

Ademola Lookman scored a stunning hat-trick as the Italian club secured their first major trophy since 1963.

Before Atalanta’s win, Italy and Germany had already been guaranteed a fifth Champions League spot due to their superior coefficient rating.

However, their victory is set to give Italy six places in the Champions League if they remain in fifth spot in the Serie A table.

Roma, who are guaranteed to finish sixth, would jump into the Champions League as the fifth league qualifier.
