Suspected vandal Abdullahi Naya’u met his waterloo when irate youths vented their anger on him in Roni Local Government Area, Jigawa State.

A resident told newsmen that the suspect was beaten up over an alleged vandalisation of cable wire transmitting electric current to Zugai village in Roni LG council.

He said the suspect sustained a fracture on his left leg and injuries after he was attacked by residents.

Police spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident in a statement issued to newsmen.

According to him: “On June 19, 2024, at about 2230 hrs, a distress call was received at Roni Division that, on the same date, at about 2100 hrs, an unidentified group of people were sighted vandalising the electric cable wire transmitting electric current to Zugai village in Roni LG council.

“On receipt of the report, detectives attached to Roni Division swiftly swung into action in collaboration with members of the community and successfully arrested the following suspects: Mubarak Isiya, Abdullahi Naya’u and Ibrahim Idris.”

He said the suspect was rushed to Roni Hospital for treatment and was later discharged.
