The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, is in mourning as veteran actor Olu Jacobs has passed away at the age of 81.
Jacobs, who was hailed as one of the greatest and most decorated African actors of his generation, leaves behind a legacy of outstanding achievements in acting.
“Olu Jacobs was a godfather in Nollywood, paving a successful path for many emerging actors and actresses in the industry,” said Joke Silva, his wife and fellow actor. “His love for acting was inspiring, and his dedication to his craft was unwavering.”
Throughout his illustrious career, Jacobs starred in several British television series and international films, earning him numerous awards and accolades. “He was a bridge between the old and new breed of actors, and his influence on the industry cannot be overstated,” said Pete Edochie, a fellow actor and friend.
