APC Chieftain Emami, hails Supreme Court judgement on LG autonomy

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta State, Ayirimi Emami and others today hailed the Supreme Court over a judgement granting Local government councils in Nigeria Financial autonomy.

Emami said if the judgement by the Supreme Court is what the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led APC government could offer for now, that it is satisfactory.

According to Emami, “If this judgement satisfies me. If this is the thing President Tinubu can give us for now.”

Chief Emami made the assertion during a chat with newsmen at Ogunu Community in Agbarha-Warri Kingdom.

He opined that financial autonomy granted to the local government councils will help checkmate corruption and misappropriation of local government funds by the state governors, many of whom he said are members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Speaking on the upcoming council elections, Emami disclosed that the APC chairmanship candidate in Warri South-West Local Council, Mamamu has dumped the APC for the PDP, noting that he was not surprised.

He however said the fact that he had left the party does not mean he left with APC Councillorship candidates in the area, stressing that without him, councillors will still get the support they need to win their election on Saturday, July 13.

Chief Emami also enjoined APC faithful to come out en masse on the day of the election and give their votes.
