NSCDC arrests four suspected electricity vandals in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested four suspected vandals who specialise in vandalizing electric equipment in Birninkudu Local Government.

Spokesman of the command, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, stated this in a statement issued to newsmen.

According to the statement, “The suspects are Usman Aliyu, Magaji Aminu, Sama’ila Badamasa, all of Zarenawa village in Birnin Kudu LGA, Jigawa State and Abba Sama’ila of Bauchi State.”

Tijjani said the suspects were arrested following an intelligence report received at the Birnin Kudu Divisional Office, indicating that they were seen late last Friday removing electrical and armored cables from an uncompleted building in the area.

He explained that they were alleged to have been involved in vandalizing infrastructure, orchestrating criminal conspiracies, and committing thefts that had caused significant disruptions in electricity supply in the area.

The NSCDC spokesman noted that the suspects would be taken to court for prosecution.
