A Catholic cleric, Rev Fr. Emmanuel Balla said considering the high rate of divorce in the society now, marriage seminar for young couples in Nigeria is very crucial.
He expressed worries at the rampant cases of broken homes and the effects on the society stressing that many young couples rush into marriage without adequate preparation, leading to unrealistic expectations and misconceptions about marriage.
Fr Balla who is the Parish Priest of St. Augustine of Hippo, Dutse Sagbagyi stated this as he organized a three days marriage seminar with the theme ‘Building stronger marriages, deeper faith ‘, at the Missionary Society of St. Paul Seminary, Gwagwalada, Abuja in conjunction with the parish family and human life commission of the parish.
The cleric further said a successful Catholic marriage requires effort, commitment, and reliance on God’s grace.
“By incorporating all that will be taught during the seminar as married couples, you can build a strong and fulfilling marriage that honors your faith”.
One of the marriage councilors Mr. Raphael Onakorere said by addressing the causes and implementing supportive measures, the negative impacts of broken homes on the society can be reduced, fostering a healthier and a more stable community,” he said.
“By investing in marriage seminars, young couples in Nigeria can better navigate the challenges of marriage, build stronger relationships, and reduce the likelihood of divorce”.
He said “Recognizing marriage in the Catholic faith as a sacrament and a reflection of God’s love go in a long way to help their homes and make them good examples in the church and the society”.
