Police rescue victim, arrest kidnappers in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command, in collaboration with vigilante members, has successfully raided a gang’s enclave, rescued a kidnap victim, and arrested two suspected kidnappers.

DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the operation to newsmen in Damaturu, the state capital.

According to Abdulkarim, the raid took place in Kasda hamlet near Yauro Village in Jakusko LGA, where the police rescued the victim and recovered two AK-47 rifles.

He said the suspects, Adamu Dimdo, 23, and Idi Dimdo, 25, were apprehended during the operation.

“The victim, Mallam Adamu Adamu, 18, had been kidnapped from Basari in Zaki LGA, Bauchi State, and was held captive in Kasda, Jakusko LGA, Yobe State, while ransom negotiations were underway,” he stated.

He further revealed that during interrogation, the suspects confessed that the principal suspect, Babawuro Audu, 45, a notorious gunrunner and mastermind behind numerous kidnapping activities, abductions, and robberies in Yobe and neighboring states, remains at large.
