Kaduna LP polls: PDP chieftain, Sarki passes no confidence vote on SIECOM chairperson

Kaduna State aspirant for the state chairman of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Danjuma Bello Sarki, says he has no confidence in the State Independent Electoral Commission, SIECOM, and Governor Uba Sani to conduct free and fair council elections in the state.

Speaking to newsmen in Kaduna on Sunday after a meeting of PDP members on the forthcoming chairmanship election, the aspirant alleged that, “The SIECOM chairman was not supposed to be the chairperson.

“She is just on level 13 and how can she become the state chairperson when she has other seniors that are ahead of her?

“There are other senior officers in the commission that are more experienced and exposed to be able to creditably handle the position and ensure free and fair Council elections in the state more than her.

“As a result of her appointment, it led to the resignation of four commissioners in the SIECOM office in Kaduna,” he claimed.

He alleged that stopping electronic voting was another form of rigging.

He observed, “I don’t have confidence in the new leadership of SIECOM and governor Uba Sani to conduct free and fair elections in the state but nevertheless, we will not fold our hands and allow the government rig the local government elections.

“If elected as the chairman of the party in the state, l will ensure every loophole is covered and ensure the success of the party in the coming council elections in the state.”
