Taraba SWAN elects new leadership

The Taraba State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN), has elected new officials who have been assigned with the responsibility of piloting its affairs in the next three years.

The election, which took place on Saturday in the conference hall of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Taraba State Council, was supervised national officials of SWAN.

The newly elected officials include Sani Suleiman of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) as the state SWAN chairman.

Others are Ruth Remamsikwe, of the Information chapel, Mansura Sadiq, from Haske Television, and Nahum Sule, among others.

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman, Sani Suleiman, extended an olive branch to all members and called for unity to elevate the association’s status in the state and the country at large.

On his part, the outgoing chairman, Joachim Dangana, highlighted the association’s achievements during his tenure and encouraged the new leadership to work diligently to surpass his accomplishments.

National officials present urged the new executive to adopt an open-door policy to enhance SWAN’s impact both in the state and nationally.

They also called on the state government to invest in sports and emphasized the importance of involving the association in sports planning and administration.

Earlier, the members of the Sports Writers Association Electoral Committee, through the chairman, Sabo John Yakubu,, said the election followed due process.
