The Baale of Kuto, Muftau Kehinde, has urged the Ogun State police command to thoroughly investigate the murder of his son, Fatai Kehinde.
According to reports, Fatai, a POS operator, popularly known as Faithy, was brutally murdered by suspected cultists on Friday, August 9.
The deceased was reported to have been chased by the assailants from his shop inside the Kuto Market to under the bridge where he was killed.
However, the Baale on Wednesday dismissed rumors that his son was a member of a cult, challenging anyone with evidence to come forward.
Expressing grief and dismay, he implored the police to conduct a thorough investigation and apprehend those responsible for the unfortunate incident.
He said he left his son’s shop around 7 pm the previous evening only to be informed of his death the next day as he was preparing for the Ijemo Day celebration.
Kehinde said, “The assailants demanded money from him, and when he attempted to flee, they chased him down.
“Despite his desperate pleas, Fatai was brutally murdered in front of his wife and children.
“They have never brought a case involving my son fighting someone since he came to this world, it has never happened.”
The Baale further disclosed that Fatai had no prior record of violence or legal issues, noting that the only occasion he was ever at a police station was due to a misunderstanding on overloading passengers at a bus stop.
“I have handed them over to the police already. We depend on the police. I would like to plead with the police that they should reveal the evildoers or they should investigate if Fatai is a member of the cult group,” he added.
