Anambra Poll: APC withdrew to avoid humiliation

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of withdrawing from the scheduled local government election in Anambra State to avoid defeat.

The National Coordinator of the APGA
Media Forum, Chinedu Obigwe said the APC’s withdrawal is a clear indication of lack of confidence in winning the election.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Obigwe said, “Anambra APC is running away from their already foreseen defeat.

“Since Basil Ejidike took over as Anambra APC Chairman, they have never won any election in Anambra.”

Obigwe recalled a 2017 incident where APC members confessed to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that the party does not exist in Anambra State.

He accused the APC chairman, Basil Ejidike, of attempting to cover up his party’s weakness by withdrawing from the election.

The APGA Media Forum coordinator commended the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) for its efforts in trying to conduct the election, stating that the poll will proceed as scheduled on September 28th.
