Man allegedly commits suicide in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that a 54-year-old man, simply called Benjamin, has taken his life in the Agege area of the state.

The command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this on Monday in Lagos.

Hundeyin said that the incident happened on Sunday at about 8:00 pm.

The police image maker said the elder brother to the deceased reported the incident at the Elere Police Station that his brother allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself to death in the store of their house.

“Officers of the division immediately visited the scene and the deceased was lowered and taken to the Orile-Agege General Hospital, where he was certified dead.

“No mark of violence was found on the body of the deceased, ” Hundeyin said.

According to him, the body had been removed from Oriole-Agee Hospital and deposited at Mainland Hospital, Yaba for autopsy.

He added that detectives were investigating the incident.
