Fire guts Zamfara Speaker’s residence

Parts of the residence of the Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki has been gutted by fire in Gusau, the State capital.

The incident occurred over the weekend.

No casualty was recorded but properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Bello Madaro, the Clerk of the House, Alhaji Mahmud Aliyu, expressed shock on behalf of the Assembly and its staff, calling the incident as a tragic calamity.

He described the inferno as an act destined by Allah, extending sympathy to the Speaker, his family, and his constituents in Zurmi West.

Many political figures and well-wishers have since visited the Speaker to offer their condolences.

The Speaker expressed gratitude to Allah that no live was lost and thanked all those who helped to contain the fire.
