I didn’t expect that – Zola surprised by Man Utd’s decision to sell midfielder

during the Barclays Premier League match between West Ham United and Wigan Athletic at the Boleyn Ground on April 24, 2010 in London, England.

Chelsea legend, Gianfranco Zola, has said that he was surprised by Manchester United’s decision to sell midfielder Scott McTominay.

Recall that Man United opted to sell the Scotland international to Napoli in the summer transfer window.

McTominay joined the Serie A side in a £25.7 million deal and has been impressive so far, scoring two goals and providing an assist in his last three games.

“I’m very surprised,” Zola said on Wednesday (via Metro UK).

“I could not believe that Manchester United released him, to be honest.

“I don’t really know what’s the reason but obviously for Napoli it’s been a great deal.

“I think everybody loves him so far, he’s scored goals, performed very well, he left me a little bit dazzled, to be honest, I didn’t expect that.”

“Obviously it is a big thing for Italian football, he is doing very well.”
